ONE CITY,
ONE ARENA
Gothenburg is an old harbour city located on the Swedish west coast. It is the second largest in Sweden with 560,000 inhabitants in the metropolitan area.
Throughout history we have embraced people and influences from abroad, and the city has developed with ideas and knowledge from around the world. We love events Gothenburg is not just one of Sweden’s main event cities. The passion and motivation that are evident here have spread far beyond Sweden’s borders and made a strong impression on the international events map.
Considering the size of Gothenburg it has an impressive list of hosted events. This success is the result of collaboration and a united vision in the way the city organises events. It is also thanks to a wonderful public, who are dedicated, curious and loyal. This is a city that has the ideal arenas and infrastructure for hosting events, as well as bold, creative and professional organisers.
Gothenburg has truly set a new standard for how to organise a major sport event.

ENJOY
GOTHENBURG
A characteristic feature of Gothenburg is the compact city area. Event venues, hotels, restaurants, museums and shopping are all in close proximity to each other and easily accessible from the airport, ferry terminals and railway station. This also makes it natural for the WMA Champion-ships athletes to interact with the people of Gothenburg, not only at the arenas but all over the city center.
The highlights of Gothenburg and its surroundings are an exceptional combination of city life, culture and nature - most of them are found within comfortable walking distance.
Fruits of the sea
Gothenburg has an almost religious relationship with the fruits of the sea. Prawns, lobster and a wide selection of fish are ranked amongst the finest in the world. Since 1910, daily catches are unloaded at the Fish Auction Hall and guided tours are available in the early morning hours.
Set course for a great meal
Enjoy cuisine from all over the world at reasonable prices. Innovative and traditional kitchens lie side by side with hip food trucks and gourmet restaurants; several named in the Guide Michelin as well as the Swedish White Guide. Gothenburg is the only Swedish city in the international gastronomic network Delice.
Shopping
Gothenburg is a lively shopping destination with a fun mix of modern department stores and fashionable boutiques, picturesque markets, pedestrian streets, malls and arcades.
Museums
Around 25 museums offer something for every taste. Visit the Göteborg City Museum for cultural history from ancient times to the present, and the Museum of World Culture for contemporary issues about the world we live in. If you love design, pay a visit to Röhsska.
Liseberg Amusement Park
Liseberg Amusement Park is the biggest visitor’s attraction in Scandinavia. Go on thrilling rides, listen to concerts or just stroll in the park to see the beautiful gardens and sculpture exhibitions.
Gothenburg is the most sustainable meeting and event destination in the world.

This is as much Scandinavia as you can get for your money.
